Iran is serious about returning to nuclear deal

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that the country’s intentions to return to the nuclear deal should not be questioned.

No one should question the seriousness of Iran’s intentions to return to the nuclear deal. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the republic Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan said on Saturday during telephone conversations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“The Iranian Foreign Minister noted that in no case should one doubt the seriousness of Iran’s intentions in the negotiations on the need for the parties to return to their obligations [on the nuclear deal],” the press service of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.

The nuclear deal with Tehran was signed in 2015 by five permanent representatives of the UN Security Council and Germany. Previous US President Donald Trump decided to break the deal in 2018, but current US leader Joe Biden has repeatedly expressed his readiness to restore it. The “five plus one” group (Russia, Great Britain, Germany, China, the USA and France) has been holding talks in Vienna on this issue since April. The start of their next round is scheduled for November 29.
