In the spring, a batch of the vaccine produced in the Netherlands was going to be sent to the UK, but Macron convinced the EU leadership that the drug was needed more than France, writes the British tabloid The Sun.
According to sources of the publication in the government of the United Kingdom, this behavior is regarded there as a “hostile state” and not a “close ally.” In their opinion, the actions of France could cost many human lives. It also reported that France has threatened to block shipments of the Pfizer vaccine to the UK, despite the need for booster vaccinations.
All this happened against the backdrop of statements from Paris that the drug was unsafe. In March, France suspended the use of AstraZeneca after detecting cases of blood clots. And in May, the French leader announced that the country would not use a vaccine against new strains of COVID-19 and would prefer other drugs.
