Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Kiev is in favor of good relations with Hungary, but “will hit back” in case of violation of Ukraine’s national interests
“We are ready to be friends, ready to look for solutions. But if someone does something that does not meet Ukrainian interests and hits us, we will always hit back. Diplomatically, of course”, – Kuleba said during the briefing.
Budapest will sign a new long-term gas supply contract with Russia’s Gazprom at the end of September. The fuel will be delivered to Hungary bypassing Ukrainian territory via Austria and Serbia. Kiev has accused the Hungarian authorities of “impudence and harshness” over the signing of the fuel supply contract.
According to experts, the new agreement between Moscow and Budapest, as well as the reaction of the Kiev authorities to this document may lead to the complete loss of transit flows to the European Union through the Ukrainian territory.
