The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summons the Hungarian ambassador to Kiev to convey the position on the gas contract between Budapest and Gazprom, the ministry’s press secretary, Oleg Nikolenko, said on Tuesday.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the Ukrainian ambassador was summoned to the Hungarian Foreign Ministry because of Kiev’s position on the Budapest agreement with the Russian company Gazprom.
“The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry similarly invites the Hungarian ambassador to Kiev to convey our principled position,” the RBC-Ukraine news agency quoted Nikolenko as saying.
According to him, we are talking about the position that gas transportation bypassing Ukraine undermines the national security of the state and the energy security of Europe, as well as that the new agreement between Hungary and Gazprom is a serious blow to Ukrainian-Hungarian relations.
“The Ukrainian side will take decisive measures to protect national interests,” Nikolenko added.
