In Yemen, the conflict between government and Houthi forces has escalated. The fighting is taking place in the province of El-Bayda.
This is reported by the Xinhua edition, citing its sources. According to preliminary data, at least 45 people were killed during the clashes.
“The Houthis have expanded their military campaign after capturing key areas under the control of the government’s army in the province of Al-Bayda as a result of fierce fighting,” an eyewitness told reporters.
The losses were roughly divided in half: among the dead there were about 20 servicemen and about 25 Houthis.
The Shiite movement intends to break into the neighboring province of Abyan. This area is under the control of government forces.
