Rocket fire in southern Yemen killed 40 soldiers

The condition of some of the wounded is assessed as critical, so the death toll may rise.

As the Correspondent writes, Anadolu’s agency, citing the press secretary of the Southern Transitional Council, Muhammad al-Naqib, reported that as a result of a rocket attack on the Al-Anad military base in Lahj province in southern Yemen, 40 soldiers were killed and over 60 were wounded. The bodies of some of the soldiers were completely burned down.

“The condition of some of the wounded is assessed as critical, the death toll may increase,” said Muhammad al-Naqib.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. But local media write that supporters of the Ansar Allah rebel movement, the so-called Houthis, subjected the base to rocket fire. A total of three ballistic missiles were fired.
