During his visit to Russia, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to discuss the details of the purchase of the second regiment of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, TASS reports.
“We have no doubts that we will buy the second S-400 regiment from Russia. In addition to the S-400, we and the Russian side have many initiatives in the defense and other spheres. So there are different alternatives on the agenda”, Erdogan told reporters on Sunday on board the plane, returning from Montenegro.
The Turkish leader noted that Ankara also used the aircraft of the Ilyushin Be-200 design bureau to extinguish fires. Earlier, the general director of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, said that the signing of an additional contract for the supply of S-400 systems to Turkey is expected by the end of the year.
The S-400 Triumph is a Russian anti-aircraft missile system (SAM), a long and medium-range anti-aircraft missile system. The supply of S-400 systems caused a crisis in relations between Turkey and the United States. Washington, threatening Ankara with sanctions, demanded to abandon the deal with Moscow and buy American Patriot complexes in return.
