At the moment, options are being worked out for the production of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19 in Hungary, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
As Lavrov recalled in an interview in an interview with the Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet, Hungary is the first and so far the only country in the entire European Union that has licensed the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, having purchased it in significant quantities.
“Variants of the production of this drug on Hungarian territory are being worked out,” the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
Earlier, Lavrov said that during his visit to Hungary, one of the topics for discussion with the Hungarian side would be the Sputnik V vaccine. In early June, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto said that Budapest was discussing with Moscow the possible production of Russian vaccines against COVID-19 at a Hungarian factory.
Today “Sputnik V” is registered in 69 countries with a total population of more than 3.7 billion people, or about half of the world’s population.
RDIF has signed agreements on the production of Sputnik V with more than 20 leading manufacturers in 14 countries, including the largest companies in India, China, South Korea, Argentina, Mexico and a number of other countries.
