Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that the delegation from Tripoli also informed Russia about the development of work on the implementation of agreements in the political sphere.

According to TASS, on Thursday at a press conference following talks with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity (PNU) of Libya, Najla Mangush, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia supports the latest decisions of the joint military committee in the “five plus five” format on the withdrawal all foreign military from Libya.

“We reaffirmed Russia’s support for the decisions that are being made within the framework of the five plus five joint military committee, including the decisions taken at its meeting five days ago, including on the need to withdraw all foreign military personnel without exception from the territory Libya”, he said.

Lavrov added that the Libyan delegation also informed Russia about the development of work on the implementation of agreements in the political sphere.

“As you remember, these agreements include preparations for holding general elections at the end of December this year,” the minister continued.

“We agree with the opinion of our Libyan colleagues on the need to accelerate the development of the legislative framework for the electoral process, so that it is approved in parliament as soon as possible. We agreed that we will continue to build up our contacts between the foreign ministries, exchange assessments regarding the crises and conflicts that persist in the Middle East and North Africa”.
