Israel responded with artillery fire to launch missiles from Lebanese territory

Israeli artillery opened fire in response to the launch of missiles from Lebanese territory, the IDF press service said.


The military detected the launch of three missiles from Lebanon, two of them fell on Israeli territory. Alarm sirens went off in settlements in the north of the country: Kiryat Shmona, Kfar Giladi and Tel Hai.

Local residents were encouraged to remain in protected areas. According to the press service of the Magen David Adom ambulance, there are no data on the victims.

This is the second shelling of Israeli territory from Lebanon in the past two weeks. The previous incident took place on July 20 – as stated by the Israel Defense Forces, two missiles were fired from Lebanese territory, one was intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, the second fell in an open area. In response, the IDF artillery struck Lebanon.
Defense Minister Benny Gantz blamed the shelling on Beirut. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said that Israel would not allow its sovereignty to be violated and that anyone who tried to harm it would pay a high price.
