The main rival of Macron, who is likely to run for a second term, could again be Le Pen
According to Correspondent, French government spokesman Gabriel Attal said that the French presidential election will be held on April 10 and 24, 2022.
“The first round of elections will be held on Sunday, 10 April, with the second round taking place two weeks later on 24 April”, – Attal said, adding that the country’s parliamentary elections will be held on 12 and 19 June.
Since incumbent French President Emmanuel Macron officially became head of state on 14 May 2017, the transfer of power to his successor or the start of his second presidential term should take place at the latest on 13 May 2022.
Macron is expected to run for a second term, although he has not yet announced his candidacy. Le Pen has launched her third attempt at becoming president. Former Labour minister Xavier Bertrand is expected to challenge Macron for the moderate conservative vote.
