U.S. launched airstrikes against pro-Iranian targets on the border of Iraq and Syria

The strike struck work structures and warehouses at two points in Syria and at one in Iraq.

According to Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, the US Air Force launched air strikes on targets of Iranian-backed forces located on the Syrian-Iranian border. The corresponding decision was made by President Joe Biden.

“As directed by President Biden, the US military launched defensive precision airstrikes earlier this evening on targets used by Iran-backed militia groups in the Iraqi-Syrian border region”, –  it said.

The strike struck work structures and warehouses at two points in Syria and at one in Iraq. Among the groups that, according to the US Department of Defense, used these objects are the Shiite groups Kataib Hezbollah and Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhadaa.

“Given the ongoing series of attacks by Iranian-backed groups targeting US interests in Iraq, the President has ordered further military action to prevent and contain such attacks”, – said John Kirby.
