The head of the upper house of the Czech parliament, the Senate, Milos Vystrchil said on Sunday that, in his opinion, President Milos Zeman behaves irresponsibly in the case of the explosions in the warehouses in the village of Vrbetice, insisting, contrary to the investigation, on several versions of the explosions.
Prague in mid-April accused the special services of the Russian Federation of involvement in the explosion at military warehouses in Vrbetica and expelled 18 employees of the Russian embassy from the country. In response, Moscow declared 20 employees of the Czech diplomatic mission persona non grata, stating that the accusations of the explosion were absurd, unfounded and far-fetched.
The Kremlin noted that the unsubstantiated accusations of the Czech Republic against the Russian Federation caused extreme damage to relations between the two countries, and also indicated that these accusations are part of a large-scale campaign of the West against Moscow.
“For me, this is a huge disappointment, and I consider the behavior of Mr. President (in the case of the explosions) very irresponsible. He (Zeman) can assume that there are several versions, but at the same time he should know that only one version is being investigated, the one where it is it is about a terrorist attack”, – said Vystrchil in an interview with the Prague television channel CNN Prima NEWS.
According to Vystrchila, the president’s behavior in this regard is very illogical.
“When Prime Minister Andrei Babish and Deputy Prime Minister Jan Hamacek came to Mr. President (April 17) with a proposal to expel 18 Russian diplomats on the basis of clarified facts (allegedly about the participation of Russian agents in organizing the explosions – ed.), He (Zeman) replied, that he supports them in this and agrees (with the expulsion). And then (Zeman) constantly declares to the whole people that what he supported Babis and Gamacek is only one of the versions that he considers as possible”, – Vystrchil said.
Answering the question about the consequences of the initiative of the international committee of the Senate, which came to the conclusion that President Zeman is causing damage to the Czech Republic with his actions and statements, and in this regard, he proposed to deprive him of his powers, Vystrchil said that this issue is now being studied by lawyers specializing in on the country’s constitution.
“I think that it is impossible to consider Article 66 of the Constitution of the Republic the way the international committee bases its message on it. Nevertheless, in the message of this committee there are many statements with which I agree that Mr. President (Zeman) is really causing damage Czech Republic”, – said the head of the Senate.
