Borrell hopes Iranian election results will not affect the JCPOA

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, hopes that the results of the elections in Iran will not affect the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear deal.

“We hope that the results of the elections in Iran and the new president will not affect the course of negotiations in Vienna on returning to the implementation of the JCPOA. This is the main issue for us”, – he said.

On Saturday, June 19, Ibrahim Raisi won the presidential elections in Iran. He was supported by nearly 18 million voters out of more than 28 million who voted. The sixth round of negotiations on the full restoration of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program ended on Sunday.
