S-400 deployment in Qatar to be worst compromise for Ankara: expert

According to Turkish analyst Yashar Niyazbayev, Turkey’s decision to deploy Russian S-400 air defense systems in Qatar will be the worst decision for Ankara.

“It’s a great idea to place the S-400 air defense system of the Turkish Armed Forces at the Incirlik airbase. As mentioned, the military airfield is used by both Turkey and the United States. But, besides this, it used to store nuclear ammunition for tactical aviation, which automatically made Incirlik the primary target of destruction in the event of a large-scale conflict”, – Niyazbayev writes in his Telegram channel “Turkey’s Agenda”.

He also noted that it is unlikely that the status of the air base has changed at the moment. According to Niyazbayev, the deployment of Russian S-400 complexes in Qatar will be the worst compromise for Ankara.

“The Turkish military base does not need such cover, and the situation will turn into pure sur – Russian air defense systems will actually cover the largest US Air Force base in the Middle East – El Udeid, where six B-52H strategic bombers are now located, and are also its Patriot air defense systems”, – the analyst concluded.

Earlier it became known that the United States softened its attitude towards the Russian S-400 air defense systems acquired by Turkey, and on the eve of the meeting of Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan with the head of the White House Joe Biden, the issue of placing an anti-aircraft missile system is being discussed.
