French business faces problems over US sanctions against Russia

French businesses are facing dire challenges due to US sanctions against third countries.

Arnaud Dubien, director of the Observo analytical center at the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, spoke at the SPIEF.

“There is a terrible problem on a day-to-day basis with opening accounts for potential Russian investors in our banks. This is impossible de facto, no matter how much, for example, Mr. Shevenman (French special envoy to Russia) fought, little changes. At the same time, our authorities deny the problem”, – Dubien said.

He stressed that the French government supports the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and France, but, according to him, makes it clear that no significant changes should be expected.

“The sanctions are here for a long time. This must be understood. Business understood this”, – he said.
