Israeli Foreign Ministry rejects accusations of withholding humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip

The ministry said that “during the passage of humanitarian aid arriving from Jordan through the Kerem Shalom crossing Hamas fired mortars at the area, and therefore the process of importing the cargo was stopped”

According to TASS, a statement posted on the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s Twitter page on Wednesday said that the Israeli Foreign Ministry denied claims that the Israeli side was obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

“It noted that on Wednesday, “during the passage of a humanitarian shipment arriving from Jordan through the Kerem Shalom (Arabic: Kerem Abu Salem) checkpoint, Hamas militants fired mortars at the area, causing the process of entering the shipment to be halted.” A similar incident is alleged to have occurred on Tuesday when the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, which included medical equipment, was disrupted”, –  TASS reported.

There have been repeated reports in the Arab media that the Israeli authorities are not allowing humanitarian convoys into Gaza. In particular, on Tuesday, Al Arabiya TV channel reported that representatives of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) were unable to enter the enclave through the Kerem Shalom checkpoint.
