Readers of the Turkish edition of Haber7 spoke negatively about the upcoming NATO exercises in the Balkans.
From May 17 to June 2, NATO will hold the largest exercise in the last 25 years, “Defender Europe – 21”, which will be attended by 26 states, including Turkey. Non-NATO member states include Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia.
“We need to come up with an excuse and not participate in these teachings”, – wrote Abdurrahman Demir.
Other commentators called NATO a Russophobic organization and called for an end to the hypocrisy. A reader named Gekturk believes that “26 countries are not worth one Russia” and called their unification against one state a shame.
“But what about the strongest America in the world? Let him try to deal with Russia alone”, – he asked.
Some users recalled that such a large exercise is worth billions of dollars that could be spent on buying vaccines to pass on to poor countries.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Russia is closely monitoring the progress of the transfer and deployment of NATO forces in Europe as part of the Defender Europe exercise.
