The conditions of the lockdown in force in Turkey since April 29 due to the situation with the coronavirus will be tightened from May 7, from that day in stores it will be allowed to trade only basic food, hygiene products and pet food, according to the circular of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic.
“In order to prevent crowds during the lockdown period, it was decided from May 7 to allow the sale in stores, including chain supermarkets, only of basic foodstuffs, hygiene products, pet food and cosmetics (except for perfumes and makeup)”, – says the circular.
It is noted that a ban on the sale of electronics, toys, office supplies, clothing, car accessories, tableware, and garden supplies is added to the previously imposed restriction on the sale of alcohol.
Earlier, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced a full lockdown in the country from 19:00 on April 29 to 5:00 on May 17 due to the situation with the coronavirus. All organizations and institutions ceased their activities, with the exception of those released by the circular of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Intercity travel is only permitted after obtaining permission from the authorities. Hotel reservations are no exception to intercity travel restrictions. Foreign tourists are not subject to curfews.
The daily increase in the incidence on April 16 in Turkey showed a maximum since the beginning of the pandemic, amounting to 63,082 cases, then the daily increase decreased by half, while the number of deaths per day was close to the maximum – 350-400. Due to the severe epidemiological situation in Turkey, Russia has limited air traffic with this country from April 15 to June 1.
