Media learned condition under which Iran will accept the results of negotiations in Vienna

Iran will accept the results of the ongoing negotiations in Vienna on a return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) only on the condition that all sanctions imposed by the United States unilaterally against the country are lifted, Press TV reported.

According to the TV channel, we are talking about the 2015 sanctions that prevent Iran from benefiting from the nuclear deal.

Earlier, the third round of negotiations started in Vienna. It began with a meeting of the Joint Commission on the JCPOA on the Iranian nuclear program, held at the level of political directors.

According to the adviser to the Supreme Leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, Iran considers it necessary to remove from the agreement a mechanism that can restore UN sanctions.

Resolution 2231, adopted in 2015, includes a mechanism for the automatic renewal of international sanctions against Iran if the country does not fulfill its obligations under the JCPOA.

According to the conditions, if within 10 years, starting from 2015, the international community reveals any serious violations by Iran, then the country will be able to avoid restrictions only thanks to the relevant UN Security Council resolution. If at least one of its permanent members does not agree to accept the resolution, the sanctions will automatically be renewed within 30 days from the moment the Security Council is notified.

Earlier it was reported that Russia and the United States are planning a meeting on the Iranian nuclear deal.
