Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the deal to sell combat drones to Ukraine is not directed against Russia.
According to EAdaily, Cavusoglu noted that Ankara has good relations with both countries, despite the tense situation in the Black Sea region, adding that Turkey is continuing negotiations on the purchase of a new batch of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM).
“Yes, we sell when there is demand. This deal is not directed against Russia. If Russia needs the products of our defense industry, then we are ready to discuss this”, – Cavusoglu said on the air of Haberturk.
“Negotiations on other orders for S-400 are continuing”.
Earlier this year, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned that Ankara would independently decide on the supply of the S-400. According to him, “no country has the right to interfere and determine the policy of Turkey in the defense sphere”. He stressed that decisions in this area are the sovereign right of Ankara.
