Czech Republic invites NATO to issue a joint statement on Russia

The Czech Republic, after the expulsion of Russian diplomats and Russia’s response, invited NATO to issue a joint statement on the situation, the country’s Foreign Ministry reports.

“At a meeting of the North Atlantic Council on Tuesday, April 20, the Czech Republic informed its NATO allies of the reasons for the expulsion of 18 Russian embassy personnel and the subsequent Russian response. The Czech Republic thanked its allies for the solidarity shown so far and requested a joint statement at NATO level” , – a message on Twitter of the ministry reports. 

The Czech Republic has asked its NATO allies to hold another meeting at the end of this week to discuss possible coordinated steps in the situation with the Russian Federation, the Czech Foreign Ministry reports.

It is noted that the Czech Republic accused the Russian Federation of “violation of sovereignty and national security”.

 

“Subsequently, the Czech Republic asked its allies to hold another meeting of the North Atlantic Council later this week to discuss other possible coordinated steps”, – according to Twitter.

Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis said on April 17 that the country’s authorities suspect the Russian special services of involvement in the explosion at an ammunition depot in Vrbetica in 2014. The Kremlin called these accusations outrageous and unfounded. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova called the situation with the investigation of the explosions of warehouses in the Czech Republic “a marasmic parade”.
