Czech President Milos Zeman said that the head of the Ministry of Health and the director of the State Institute for Drug Control are responsible for the continuing deaths in the country due to coronavirus, since they refuse to purchase the Russian Sputnik V vaccine before registration with the European regulator.
“The two main obstacles (on the way of Sputnik V to the Czech Republic) are the Minister of Health (Jan) Blatny and the director of the State Institute for Drug Control (Irena Storova). On Tuesday, Italy bought Russia’s Sputnik V and will build a plant for its production. Since millions of people are vaccinated with these vaccines, Russian or Chinese, the two I mentioned are guilty of our people dying in vain. Moreover, the number of deaths already exceeds 200 people a day”, – the president said.
Zeman stressed that he sees a solution to the situation in the resignation of Minister of Health Jan Blatna and Director of the State Institute for Drug Control Irena Storova. He intends to discuss this issue at the next meeting with Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis.
