Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Mohammed Ferazmend was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry after Iran’s accusations against Turkey of violating Iraqi sovereignty, Anadolu reports citing a diplomatic source.
The Ambassador was told that Turkey expects Iran’s support in the fight against terrorism, not counteraction.
“The Foreign Ministry summoned Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Mohammad Ferazmend, where he was given a reaction to the statement by Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Irej Mesjidi that Turkey is violating Iraqi sovereignty. It was conveyed to the Iranian ambassador that Turkey expects Iran to support its fight against terrorism, not counteracting him”, – said the source.
Earlier, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that 48 members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, banned in the country, were destroyed in northern Iraq during the anti-terrorist operation of the Turkish Armed Forces. According to him, in one of the caves in the Gara region, the bodies of 13 Turkish citizens, including police and military officers, were found abducted by members of this party.
