Iran will not negotiate with US until sanctions are lifted

Tehran is ready to respond to concrete deeds, not gestures, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said. The US made it clear that it is ready to negotiate with Iran on its nuclear program.

According to DW, Iran expressed its readiness to negotiate with the United States on its atomic program only if Washington first lifts the sanctions imposed on Tehran.

“There can be no meeting with the United States on the atomic issue, since the United States withdrew from the Vienna Agreement”, – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzade wrote in his Twitter microblog.

Iran will react not to “gestures”, but to concrete actions, Khatibzade stressed. Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif made a post on Twitter with the hashtag “#CommitActMeet”. The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Instagram page in Farsi explains this hashtag: if the United States fulfills its obligations and in fact lifts the sanctions, then Iran will be ready for a meeting.
