Special representative of the president for the SAR in an interview told about rumors concerning proposal of the Syrian opposition to form a military council

“This is a purely provocative stuffing on the eve of the international meeting on Syria in Sochi”.

“Someone is trying to drive a wedge between Russia and the Syrian government. This has never been discussed, it cannot be by definition. We reject such attempts to impose solutions that do not fit into the decisions of the international community. We are working very closely with both the Syrian central government and the Kurds regarding the establishment of a dialogue”.

The Arab newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat previously wrote that a number of oppositionists allegedly proposed to the Russian Federation to form a military council, which would become a supervisory body for the implementation of international agreements during the transition period.

The head of the opposition delegation at the Astana format talks, Ahmad Toame, told RIA Novosti that they do not know anything about the military council.
