French President Emmanuel Macron tested positive for COVID, prompting officials to step up contact tracing.
This was announced on Thursday, December 17, by the press service of the presidential administration.
“Today, the president of the republic has been diagnosed with the coronavirus COVID-19”, – the statement said.
“This diagnosis was made after a PCR test performed at the first symptoms”.
For the next 7 days, Macron will be in self-isolation. All of his travels, including his December 22 visit to Lebanon, have been canceled.
It is worth noting that Macron attended the European summit last week and met with EU leaders to discuss the European budget, climate change and the situation with Turkey.
