The French police dismantled a makeshift migrant camp in central Paris on Monday night, which arose after another camp was dismantled last week.
The tent camp was illegally set up on Republic Square in the centre of Paris.
At around 8 p.m. the police started dismantling the tents, sometimes with migrants inside. One and a half hours later, the camp was dismantled.
According to non-governmental organisations, there were over 450 migrants in the square that evening.
The police said in a statement that “certain associations” had organised the construction of the temporary camp, which they said was “unacceptable”.
The French agency AFP reported that the police used tear gas to clean up the camp, adding that the operation lasted less than ten minutes.
