Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuelle Macron discussed at length the development of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by the Kremlin’s press service.
“President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President Emmanuelle Macron of the French Republic. Taking into account the co-chairmanship of Russia and France, the OSCE Minsk Group has thoroughly discussed the development of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh”, – the report says. – “Vladimir Putin informed about the active mediation efforts undertaken by the Russian side, which allowed stopping the bloodshed and avoiding new victims, as well as about the deployment of the Russian peacekeeping contingent along the line of contact and the Lachin corridor. It was noted that the statements made by the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia and the Prime Minister of Armenia on 9 November are being implemented and the situation in the region as a whole has stabilised”.
Expressing their readiness to coordinate the work of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Russia, France and the United States, the leaders stressed the importance of addressing urgent humanitarian issues, including the return of refugees to their places of permanent residence, ensuring conditions for normal living of the population, restoration of infrastructure, preservation of Christian churches and monasteries.
