The French President also demanded more independence for Europe in the area of defence and security.
According to DW, in an interview with the Paris edition of Grand Continent, Macron said that the UN Security Council “is not making any useful decisions at the moment”.
“Americans will only be able to recognize Europeans as allies if they take themselves seriously and are independent in their own defense policy”, – stressed the President of France, noting that Europe, like the United States and China, will continue to work on its own autonomy.
We should remind that France is one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council with the right of veto. In addition to France, it is the USA, China, the UK and Russia.
