Tehran commented on the possibility of US return to nuclear deal

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibzade, commenting on the possibility of the United States returning to a nuclear deal during the Joe Biden presidency, said that Tehran prefers not to trust expectations.

“We have no expectations from anyone in Washington. They make their own decisions based on their own policies. All the steps taken by the Trump government have failed so far, so they have no choice but to respect the Iranian people and get on the right path”, – Khatibzade said.

At the same time, he clarified that at the moment it is too early to judge this, adding that Tehran will look at the real actions of the American side.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also said that it is not the United States to put forward conditions regarding the nuclear deal, but as soon as Washington wants to return there, it will have to answer for violations of obligations.

He stressed that the United States caused “multibillion dollar damage” to Iran.

According to Khatibzadeh, Washington must admit its mistakes, end the “economic war” against Iran, fulfill its obligations and compensate the damage caused to Iran.
