The French police are conducting operations against a dozen people after the brutal murder of a schoolteacher by a terrorist in Conflant- Saint Honorin (Evelyn) and are investigating online publications by those who support the attacker. This was announced on Monday by the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanen, speaking on Radio Europe 1.
“84 investigations have been opened in connection with the ‘spread of hatred online’ against those who, after Friday evening, supported the teacher’s killer. The detentions have been underway since yesterday. Police operations continue against a dozen people”, – he said.
“It is necessary to continue working actively to eradicate hatred in social networks”, – the Minister stressed. – “They have apparently published a fatwa against this teacher. Today he is a teacher, tomorrow he is a policeman and the day after that he is a journalist.”
In the evening of 16 October, a 47-year-old teacher was attacked near the school where he taught history in the Ile de France metropolitan area of Conflant-st Honorin. His throat was slit by the attacker. The attacker tried to threaten the policemen who arrived on the scene, but was shot and killed.
The French anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office has been charged with investigating the crime. The French President called the incident a terrorist act. According to the latest police reports, 11 people were detained during the investigation of the attack.
