The EU countries are still discussing the details of the sanctions against Belarusian officials, but France is in favor of their early introduction. This is how the French Foreign Ministry reacted to a request from journalists to comment on the assertion of the German newspaper Die Welt that, due to the position of France, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will not be included in the sanctions list.
“The foreign ministers, and then the heads of state and government of the EU, decided to impose sanctions against Belarusian officials. We want these sanctions to be implemented as soon as possible. European institutions and EU member states are working on the content of these measures, they will be promulgated by the European Union when the time comes, ” the press service of the Foreign Ministry said
