Jihadists killed Iraqi colonel

While inspecting the hideout of the militants of the terrorist organization “Islamic State”*, an explosive device blasted.

The incident took place in the Makkhul Mountains, near the city of Tikrit, north of the Iraqi capital. The hiding places of the militants were discovered here. Colonel Hisham Muhammad, head of the counter-terrorism unit in Salah Ed-Din province, led the operation against the terrorists, but when the security forces entered one of the tunnels, an improvised explosive device blasted.

As a result of the explosion, the colonel received injuries incompatible with life. Some of his subordinates also suffered.
