According to Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babiš, Prague treats Moscow and Beijing “quite standardly”.
The Czech Republic is a sovereign state and is developing standard relations with Russia and China, and in Prague, on this basis, is seen as insignificantly influencing the process of statements linking these powers with cyberattacks on Western facilities. This was stated on Thursday in an interview with the newspaper Mlada fronta DNES by Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babish.
“It is generally accepted [in the West] that China and Russia are behind the cyber attacks [on Western objects], but I don’t know whether there is any evidence or not”, – the politician said. – “I visited the NATO center in Estonia, and experts said that China wanted to collect [classified] information in this way [by cyberattacks], while Russia is trying to ruin everything, but for us this [such claims] is insignificant. We are a sovereign state and treat these countries quite standardly, like all other [states]”.
In implementing the Czech policy towards Russia and China, Babiš takes into account primarily Czech interests. The same is done, as the Prime Minister stressed, by President Milos Zeman.
“I and the Czech president are fighting for Czech interests. They are that citizens have jobs, our companies produce goods and export, so that there would be no unemployment. [They are] business and good international economic relations”, – Babiš said.
The Czech prime minister also said that at a meeting between Zeman and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo in Prague Castle on Wednesday, the head of state spoke in favour of developing cooperation between the world powers in combating international terrorism.
“Mr. President said that [world powers] should not develop animosity with each other, but should unite in the fight against the common enemy – international terrorism”,- Babiš said.
