Anti-government demonstrations began in Beirut

Protesters took to the streets of Beirut for the first time on Thursday after a massive explosion at the local seaport on August 4, which led to tragic consequences.

According to UNN, riot police used tear gas on August 6 against protest activists in the center of the Lebanese capital. According to media reports from the scene, groups of aggressive demonstrators tried to break through the cordons to the parliamentary palace on the Place Etoile square. During the clashes that erupted, there are wounded on both sides, who are being taken away by ambulances.

“The demonstrators attacked the ranks of law enforcement officers in the nearby Place de Martír, near the buildings of the newspaper An Nahar and the city hall. At the same time, they threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the police”, – the message says.
