Second plane of the Ministry of Emergency Situations with Russian help arrives in Beirut

The day before, an explosion occurred in the area of ​​the seaport of the Lebanese capital. According to the latest data, 135 people were killed, more than five thousand were injured, many are reported missing.

According to local authorities, the explosion was caused by the detonation of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate stored in the warehouse, confiscated by customs in 2015.

Beirut was recognized as a disaster area, and a state of emergency was introduced in the city for two weeks. The country has declared three days of mourning. The second plane with Russian equipment and specialists to provide assistance after the devastating explosion arrived in Beirut, the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies said.

IL-76, which took off from Zhukovsky, landed at 22:05.

Previously, Sukhoi Superjet landed in the Lebanese capital.

In total, the department plans to send five planes to Beirut, which will deliver an airmobile hospital and a laboratory of Rospotrebnadzor to detect COVID-19. Doctors and rescuers of the Centrospas airmobile unit will also arrive in Lebanon.

All specialists have special suits and protective equipment, taking into account the situation with the coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, about 150 people will be sent to Beirut.
