The Iranian state television and radio company IRIB reported that the Tondar organization was preparing a terrorist attack at the Russian Consulate General in Rasht. In turn, the diplomats themselves denied this.
The data came after the Ministry of Information of the Islamic Republic released information about the detention of the leader of the organization, Jamshid Sharmahd.
According to the department, the organization coordinated activities with curators from the United States and carried out a number of terrorist attacks, and also intended to conduct other sabotage operations.
In particular, according to IRIB, Tondar members prepared attacks using chemical and biological weapons at an international book exhibition in Tehran. The organization also planned a terrorist attack at the Russian consulate general in Rasht, but this was prevented by local security services.
At the same time, IRIB does not cite the source of information and does not indicate when the terrorist attack was prevented.
In turn, the Russian Embassy in Tehran called the incoming information rumors.
“The embassy does not comment on unverified rumors”, – the diplomatic department said.
