Iran called on the United States to answer for the maneuvers over Syria not only in a legal way

Tehran must respond to the actions of the US Armed Forces against a civilian Iranian aircraft in the skies over Syria, not limiting itself to legal methods. This was stated on Friday by the official representative of the Guardian Council of the Constitution of Iran, Abbas Ali Kadhodai.

“This act of terrorism by the United States, in addition to bringing to legal responsibility, which has been confirmed by the government, requires a different response”, – he wrote on his Twitter page. According to Kadhodai, this is necessary, “since bringing to justice in the legal plane takes a long time”.

Earlier on Friday, the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran protested to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) over the actions of American F-15 fighters in the skies over Syria.

On Thursday evening, two fighter jets of the US Armed Forces came close to a passenger plane of the Iranian airline Mahan Air in the skies over Syria. The liner was heading to Lebanon and successfully landed at the Beirut airport. As a result of the forced maneuvers of the aircraft, three passengers were injured, as well as several crew members.

According to the Pentagon, American planes were carrying out a mission within the framework of Operation Unwavering Determination, which is being conducted in Syria by a group of countries led by the United States, in the area of the Al-Tanf zone, where the American military base is located. According to the American side, the fighter was at a “safe distance of 1,000 meters from the airliner” when it decided to make sure it was a passenger plane. After that, a visual inspection of the airliner was carried out.
