France is ready to help Lebanon emerge from the crisis after reforms

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drienne delivered an oral message to Lebanese President Michel Aoun from his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, stating Paris’ readiness to help Beirut deal with the economic crisis during certain reforms, the press service of the presidential palace reported.

“In an oral message, the French President expressed his country’s support for Lebanon in this difficult situation, as it has always been for many years. Le Drienne spoke about France’s intention to help after the necessary reforms for Lebanon”, –  the press service writes.

The French Foreign Minister also noted that the agreements of the Cedar Conference are still relevant and can be activated evenly with the reforms agreed by the Lebanese government during the last conference in Paris.

The International Conference in support of the Lebanese economy “Cedar” was held in Paris in April 2018. The participating countries decided to provide several low-interest loans to the republic. In total, Lebanon was to receive almost $12 billion over several years, including $4 billion from the World Bank for five years.
