Turkey wants to transfer old Soviet air defense systems to Libya

According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the Turkish military plans to use former Soviet S-125M1 Pechora-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems in Libya. The fact of sending this equipment to the “hot spot” is actively discussed in social networks.

“More than a year ago, the forces of the Government of National Accord opposing Field Marshal Haftar were able to deploy S-125 air defense systems in the Misurata area. Therefore, it was initially assumed that the updated Pechora were purchased specifically for shipping to PNS formations, the newspaper writes.

At present, it is also possible that they will replace the MIM-23 Hawk anti-aircraft missile systems destroyed at the El-Baty air base. Due to the fact that the Turkish side does not have trained personnel to work on the S-125M1, specialists from Ukraine may arrive. It is known that earlier Ukrainian “volunteers” in this country were already servicing military equipment, including aircraft.
