The heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the Russian Federation and the United States, Sergey Lavrov and Mike Pompeo, during a telephone conversation, discussed the preparations for the meeting proposed by the Russian side of the leaders of the five countries-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
“A thorough exchange of views has been held on ensuring strategic stability in the context of the upcoming meetings of Russian-American working groups on military-political issues,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The parties discussed the tasks of resolving conflicts in certain regions of the world, including the situation in Afghanistan, Libya and Syria.
The issues of the international agenda and the problems of the bilateral sphere of relations were considered, the agency said.
