Media says India transfers ten tons of medical care to Syria

India transferred 10 tons of medical aid to Syria, the cargo arrived at Damascus International Airport on board the flight of Syrian state airlines, the Syrian newspaper Al-Vatan reports.

“Ten tons of medical care from India arrived on board the aircraft of the Syrian airline (Syrian air), from New Delhi with Syrian students”, – the newspaper writes.

The flight was met at Damascus International Airport by SAR Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad and the Indian Ambassador to the Arab Republic.

Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Health of Syria, Ahmad Khleifavi, in an interview with RIA Novosti, spoke about the intentions of the Syrian authorities to sign contracts with India in the field of healthcare in the near future. Also, according to him, Damascus requested from Moscow a list of drugs to combat coronavirus. There is currently a discussion of their supply to Syria.

In Syria since June, there have been problems with the production of drugs due to lack of components. This is due to the new US sanctions against the ATS. Damascus is negotiating with India, China, Russia, Iran and a number of other countries about the supply of alternative drugs or components for their production in Syria itself to avoid shortages.
