Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin on Friday discussed with the Iranian Ambassador in Moscow, Kazem Jalali, the situation in Syria and the need for humanitarian assistance to the people of this country, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
“The parties discussed the situation in and around Syria with emphasis on the need to promote the political process in the country on the basis of the UN Security Council resolution 2254, as well as providing non-political humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people”, – the statement said.
It is specified that the conversation took place on the initiative of the Iranian side.
