France supported the idea of Russia to expand the Norman format

The French Senate is ready to consider expanding the Norman format by involving parliamentarians from four countries in the negotiation process.

This statement was made by the President of the Upper House of the French Parliament, Gérard Larcher.

As News Front reported earlier, in March, Russian leader Vladimir Putin met with Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the Russian State Duma, and Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the political council of the Ukrainian party “Opposition Platform – For Life”.

Then Putin said that the Russian side was ready to involve parliamentarians from Russia, France, Germany and Ukraine in the Norman process.

For his part, Gerard Larcher said that this option would help settle the armed conflict in Donbass.

“When we talk about the Norman format, we talk about the Minsk agreements. And, of course, this is a proposal that our friends from the Federation Council made us. We are ready for this issue, for everything that will help to move towards stabilization in Ukraine, return of the dialogue”, –  said Larcher.
