A monument to a French public official was damaged in Paris

Unknown people drew graffiti on the monument to the French statesman, Minister of Finance in the government of Louis XIV Jean-Baptiste Colbert, which is near the French National Assembly in Paris.

The incident took place in the evening of June 23. Unknown persons made an inscription on the pedestal with red paint accusing the authorities of “Negrophobia”. The intruders were detained.
Kolber, a historical figure, is also known as one of the initiators of the so-called “Black Code”, which legally regulated slavery in French colonies.
