People in black clothes and with covered faces rioted during an uncoordinated protest against racism and police violence, which takes place on Republic Square in Paris.
The action began around 14:30 local time. According to media reports, about 10 thousand people take part in it. It was assumed that the foot column would move towards the opera Garnier, but the police cordons did not allow the procession to advance.
After about an hour and a half, people in black, mostly young men, joined in a group and began throwing bottles, paint containers and other rubbish into the police blocking the street. The crowd accompanied their provocations with shouts: “We want to go, give us the way!”
In addition, the protesters set fire to a heap of debris on the roadway that continues to smolder and stench. A piece of the area is constantly being drawn in by the smoke of the fires, from time to time popping firecrackers of various strengths are heard.
As a result, the police used tear gas. The crowd moved away from the cordon for a short while, but as soon as the gas dispersed, the hooligans returned. Some of them are trying to break the windows of the store of the mobile operator Orange.
