In several French cities, police protests were held simultaneously. The reason for this was the recent statements by the Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castanera, about the systematic suspension of police officers found guilty of racism.
Castanar also reported that police officers will be banned from strangulating arrest techniques. Protesters in the streets of Paris, Toulouse, Lille and Saint-Etienne chanted “Castaner retired” and symbolically threw handcuffs on the ground. The police union said that the minister had lost the trust of his subordinates and called on the head of the French Interior Ministry to once again allow the suffocating techniques.
