Lavrov and Gutteres noted the threat of terrorists stepping up in Syria

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and UN Secretary General Antoni Gutteres during a telephone conversation noted the threat of terrorists becoming more active in Syria against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“A detailed exchange of views took place on the situation on the ground in Syria, including the efforts of Russia and Turkey to stabilize the situation and ensure a ceasefire in the Idlib de-escalation zone as part of the implementation of the Additional Protocol of March 5”, – the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“The threat of terrorists stepping up in Syria against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic was also noted, the need to ensure lasting security and stability in the country based on the restoration of its sovereignty and territorial integrity was emphasized”, – the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
