Iranian Foreign Ministry commented on Trump’s requirements for WHO

The US requirements for the World Health Organization (WHO) undermine its independence, and are also untimely, because the health of people around the world is at stake, said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi.

“While global health is at stake and we need solidarity around the world as never before, as well as the leadership of science, a letter from the US President Donald Trump to the Secretary General of WHO undermines the professionalism and independence of the organization”, – Musavi wrote on Twitter.

According to him, the US demands constitute “a futile attempt made at the wrong time”.

Earlier, the US President Donald Trump wrote a letter to WHO Director Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, which says that Washington will completely stop funding the organization and reconsider its membership if it does not carry out the reforms required by the United States within 30 days. According to the president of the United States, his administration has investigated the WHO’s unsuccessful response to the coronavirus pandemic.
